TATD has quite a history – and I’m proud to say it has been in existence for 92 years. It is one of the nation’s leading dance teaching organizations and conventions. TATD’s mission today remains the same as it was at its origination:
“To keep the art of dancing and the dance teaching profession on the highest level by upholding its ideals and principles and passing those principles on to the next generations of teachers.”
Texas Association of Teacher’s of Dancing (TATD) is more than just an organization. It is a group of dance teachers that have created a legacy surpassing 90 years of dance education. In 1992 I walked into my very first TATD convention. This Summer was a full circle moment as I was voted President of TATD by the very people who taught me to love the art of dance. I am beyond grateful for everything this organization has done for me and am so excited to give back by serving as President.
Through the years the mission of TATD has remained the same: “To keep the art of dancing and the dance teaching profession on the highest level by upholding its ideals and principles and passing those principles on to the next generations of teachers.” In 2021 our TATD Family came together in Sugarland, TX for our 91st season. The teachers, faculty, and students filled the ballrooms with love, compassion, and true determination to continue the legacy of TATD.
Moving forward we are excited to see the magic in store for 2022. Our “Teachers Teaching Teachers” Mini Convention will be held January 15th and 16th at Texas State University. At Mini Convention we offer not only movement classes in different genres, as well as discussions between studio owners, directors, and teachers. Mini is an amazing opportunity to get to know our organization on a personal level.
This Summer we will be back in Sugarland, TX for “The Beat Goes On” June 26th-30th at The Marriott Town Square. We have an incredible faculty line up and can’t wait to create more memories with our TATD family. If you are new to TATD or interested in finding out more about our organization please do not hesitate to contact us. The TATD family is our “happy dance world”.
In true Jade form I would like to conclude this letter with a quote.
“Our fingertips don’t fade from the lives we touch.” Judy Blume.
Much Love,
Jade Greenough
TATD President
