TATD has quite a history – and I’m proud to say it has been in existence for 92 years. It is one of the nation’s leading dance teaching organizations and conventions. TATD’s mission today remains the same as it was at its origination:
“To keep the art of dancing and the dance teaching profession on the highest level by upholding its ideals and principles and passing those principles on to the next generations of teachers.”
Texas Association of Teacher’s of Dancing is more than just an organization. It is our “Happy Dance World”. It is an organization founded by dance teachers that has created a legacy surpassing 90 years of dance education. In 1992 I walked into my very first TATD convention. Last Summer my heart was filled with love and gratitude as I came full circle and stood in front of my peers and students as the President of TATD. I am beyond grateful for everything this organization has done for me and am so excited to continue the legacy
TATD has created.
Through the years the mission of TATD has remained the same: “To keep the art of dancing and the dance teaching profession on the highest level by upholding its ideals and principles and passing those principles on to the next generations of teachers.” In 2023 our TATD Family came together in Sugarland, TX for our 93rd season. A special thank you to all of our teachers for your positive feedback. Our teachers, faculty, and students filled the ballrooms with love, compassion, and true determination to continue the legacy of TATD.
Moving forward we are excited to see the magic in store for 2024. Our first event of the season is the TATD “Rejuvenate” Teacher Retreat, formerly known as the TATD Mini
Convention. This will be held at Texas State University on January 13th and 14th. At Rejuvenate we focus on the teachers, offering not only movement classes but also discussions between studio owners, directors, and instructors including tips and tricks, class structure, recitals, music, certifications, and much more! This is an amazing opportunity to get to know our organization on a personal level.
This Summer we will be back in Sugarland, TX for “Meet Me on the Floor in 24” June 23rd- 26th at The Marriott Town Square. We have an incredible faculty lineup and can’t wait to create more memories with our TATD family. If you are new to TATD or interested in finding out more about our organization please do not hesitate to contact us. The TATD family is our “happy dance world”.
In true Jade form, I would like to conclude this letter with a quote. “Tap into your Magic, you are your own Magician.”
Much Love,
Jade Greenough, TATD President
